Welcome to Merrymeet, a charming self-catering holiday cottage to rent for up to 16 guests. This pet-friendly accommodation is tucked away in the heart of the Peak District, providing its guests with fantastic walks in a picture-perfect setting.
Charming Cottage to Rent
This celebration cottage is conveniently located just an hour from Manchester and Birmingham, making it ideal not only for family and friends’ getaways but also for corporate and wellness retreats. It comes with:
- 7 cosy bedrooms (2 doubles, 4 twins, and 1 quad)
- Large reception area
- Fantastic games room with a table tennis table, mini pool, table football, xbox
- Fully-equipped kitchen
- Dining room for 16 guests
- Private gardens with a BBQ
- WiFi
This is also partially-accessible accommodation, please read the Access Statement for more information. Besides the venue providing you with everything needed for a comfortable stay, the area itself offers a large range of activities, both on and off-site.
Reception Room
The main entrance of Merrymeet will lead you directly into its main reception area. The floor to ceiling windows enrich the space with lots of light while the cosy chesterfield sofas offer the perfect conversation area. The wood-burning stove in this room will keep you nice and cosy while the central heating will make sure you’re warm throughout the year.
Here you’ll also find amenities such as a flat-screen TV which will be ideal for watching a game or enjoying a movie night. You’ll be able to select from a wide range of DVDs, CDs, books and connect your music player to our speakers (don’t forget to bring an AUX cable).
Kitchen & Dining
The modern kitchen will provide you with all the amenities you could need. There are 4 hobs and 2 ovens with big granite work surfaces, a large fridge & freezer, Dualit toaster, pots, pans, plates, glasses and cups and lots of storage space.
After preparing your signature recipe, invite your guests to join you in around the large table sitting all 16 guests. If you prefer not to cook during your holidays, or would like to celebrate a special occasion, welcome a caterer on-site. We’re happy to provide you with recommendations on some local caterers or invite the one you already know.
Bedrooms
Enjoy total and complete relaxation at Merrymeet. This exclusive accommodation comes with handmade mattresses, thick high-quality duvets and fluffy pillows for nights of uninterrupted sleep. The accommodation includes fresh bed linen, soft towels and central heating.
Our cottage consists of 7 bedrooms – 4 twins, 2 doubles and 1 quad 4 of the bedrooms and 3 bathrooms are located on the ground floor for easy access while there are 3 extra bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs. The house also comes with plenty of hot water!
Entertainment Amenities
Besides the flat-screen TV and extensive library of DVD to choose from, this holidays cottage in Staffordshire also comes with a games room! Here you’ll find everything you need to have a fun afternoon on a rainy day – table football, a small pool table, table tennis and an Xbox. Organise a fun tournament with a prize at the end have all of your group to join in.
We also have additional facilities for kids. We can provide cots and steps up for the bathroom basins, plus a range of children’s books and games.
We’re are very welcoming to various activity providers. You can opt-in for target sports or dance lessons, cocktail making or gin & whiskey tasting, casino night or an escape event, the choice is yours!

Outdoors
Your private gardens come with several picnic tables and benches for all of your guest. Here you can enjoy a BBQ (which is on-site, all you need to do is bring coal) while enjoying the views of rolling hills of the surrounding area. It is fully fenced, making it safe for children and dogs (and there is no busy roads nearby). The 3 acres of filed will provide you (and your pup) with space for activities, but please note that the slopes might make a ball game a bit more challenging.
At twilight, you may be lucky enough to see Barn Owls silently gliding over our fields.
Take a walk to a nearby local pub with delicious food – The Great Lion which is located just 10 – 15 minute walk away. Directly from Merrymeet, you also have access to the wonderful paths of the Peak District National Park.
